It is the start of September, and we all know what that reminds us of: high school home football games. On September 2nd  2022, Lincoln-Way East had their first home game of the 2022 season. Lincoln-Way East Griffins faced the Batavia Bulldogs and brought them down with a 31-16 win. Kickoff started around 7:00 pm and star kicker #49, Carter Nair, set the tone with his amazing kickoff. From the first point, East scored against Batavia; the fans knew it was going to be a sweep. Left Tackle: Brad Abbott included, “The team executed well in the first half; we came out and did everything coach put us through in practice the whole week.” During the 2nd quarter of the game, Wide Receiver/Running Back Jayden Cook caught an outstanding lateral and ran 30 yards to score East’s second touchdown. The fans projected it to be a blowout until the 3rd quarter hit and Batavia scored their first touchdown. At that point Abbott also had to add that, “Obviously at the beginning of the game some guys were nervous; but once the first play came around, we completely locked in.” Overall, both teams played amazingly well and even though Batavia lost by a margin, they put in great sportsmanship.
