Gift ideas for the holidays

Gift ideas for the holidays

With it already being December, the holidays are fast approaching and with the holiday season comes the daunting task of buying the perfect gifts for your loved ones. No matter how long you have known someone sometimes it is hard to think of a gift they will genuinely appreciate. Here are some ideas…

  1. Keep it simple with a gift card. Now this gift idea can be somewhat controversial considering it might be viewed as impersonal or lazy, but it honestly depends on the person. If you do not know someone very well a gift card is an easy route to go and one of the safest options. Additionally, some people prefer gift cards so they can pick out exactly what they want and can buy what’s best suited to their needs and desires.
  2. Although some might see it as cheesy handmade gifts are a great idea. Even if it doesn’t turn out as perfect as something you can traditionally buy, homemade gifts are a good way to show someone that you value and care for them. Honestly sometimes it really is the thought that counts. I personally love the idea of paper bouquets. They are super cute, and I’ve even made one myself before for a gift. I will be honest they can take a while to make but there are lots of YouTube videos that will show you a step-by-step process for each flower. Some other handmade ideas include a photo album and if you want to make it even better you can decorate it with stickers and mementos or buy a cute, thrifted frame. Honestly sometimes even something as simple as a heartfelt letter or drawing does the trick. Along that note annotated books are also a really thoughtful gift.
  3. Gift baskets are honestly great for the holidays no matter who you are getting the gift for. You can really include anything you want in them. I feel that the presentation of it is what really makes it such a nice gift. I liked to include snacks in them because honestly who doesn’t enjoy a good treat. You can also put candles, soft things like blankets or stuffed animals, accessories, bath bombs, face masks, books, gift cards, and baked goods.
  4. Anything custom is a nice, individualized touch to a gift. One good customizable gift is blankets. You can go on Etsy or amazon and literally put any number of pictures you want on a blanket whether its picture of them or their pet or their favorite characters. Another cool idea is personalized candles. Their sites where you can create different scents and labels for your own candle. There are also some sites that sell candles based off different characters which is good if you are getting a gift for someone who loves books.
  5. This may be random, but Legos can be a great gift. Although Legos are on the pricey side, they have a wide variety of sets to choose from. My favorite is their botanical collection, where they have many cute Lego flowers. Legos are a great idea for people who enjoy building things or doing puzzles.
