Thanksgiving is a holiday that has been celebrated for many and many years. Traditionally people gather, make food, and give thanks to each other. By today’s standards people make more food than they know what to do with, and there is a lot more variety with how the food is made and what people eat. The food and how it’s prepared has dramatically changing over time. Thanksgivings long ago unlike today’s Thanksgivings turkey was not the main source of meat they also had venison, goose, duck, turkey and much more. There were many sources of meat, and they used whatever was locally available, but we can see that turkey was not the only option. In the 20th century along came many inventions such as refrigerators, electric ovens and mass production of food that did not have to be hand hunted or forged. Dished like marshmallow topped sweet potatoes are new dishes that come along with the rise in technology. Technology has also changed the way we cook things we no longer have to cook outside over and open flame we can now cook from the comfort of our own homes. People now cook their food in different ways for different flavors, and the food is no longer as bland for example someone could fry their turkey compared to baking and they give it different flavors. As we all know more recent Thanksgivings are very different compared to how it used to be with the never-ending improvement in technology the food may sometimes become unhealthier, but it sure tastes good. As Americans we know that we love spending less time cooking, and really enjoy the taste of fried and smoked food even if that means it might be affecting out health.
