Eye color is something most people don’t think about every day, but it’s actually a pretty interesting part of what makes everyone unique. At Lincoln-Way East, students have a wide range of eye colors, from dark brown to blue, to green, and everything in between.
Eye color mostly comes down to genetics, meaning you get it from your parents. The amount of melanin in the iris affects how dark or light someone’s eyes appear. People with more melanin usually have brown eyes, while people with less melanin tend to have lighter colors like blue or green.
Brown eyes are the most common worldwide, while green eyes are one of the rarest. Some people even have hazel eyes, which can look different depending on lighting. That’s why someone’s eyes might look lighter outside in the sun and darker indoors.
Even though eye color is a small detail, it’s one of the many traits that makes each person different. Whether someone has blue, brown, green, or hazel eyes, it’s just another example of how genetics creates variety among people even here at Lincoln-Way East.
