For the 2025 Formula 1 season, there are 10 teams and 20 drivers competing on the grid. Red Bull Racing continues with reigning world champion Max Verstappen alongside Liam Lawson. Scuderia Ferrari has an exciting new pairing of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, who moves from Mercedes. McLaren fields a young and talented duo — Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri — while Mercedes-AMG Petronas introduces rising star Andrea Kimi Antonelli alongside George Russell. Aston Martin keeps its experienced lineup of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, and Alpine features Pierre Gasly with newcomer Jack Doohan. Over at Williams Racing, Alex Albon is joined by former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, bringing strong experience to the team. Haas will have Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman, while Kick Sauber runs with Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Finally, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (formerly AlphaTauri) has Yuki Tsunoda partnering with Isack Hadjar. The Formula 1 “goat” is Lewis Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton, 8-time world champion. The current formula 1 drivers is a sport about speed, precision, agility, and endurance. Each car must have the same chassis except each team, all 10 of them get to change each car while having to follow strict FIA rules. As said by the FIA ((Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) Each car must use a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 hybrid engine. The power unit includes six parts: the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), Turbocharger (TC), Motor Generator Unit–Kinetic (MGU-K), Motor Generator Unit–Heat (MGU-H), Energy Store (battery), and Control Electronics. Teams are limited in how many power unit components they can use per season — going over the limit because of grid penalties. Engines must run on sustainable fuel (with at least 10% renewable ethanol), and by 2026 F1 will switch to fully synthetic, carbon-neutral fuel. Aerodynamics, it’s ruled that The FIA controls the size, shape, and position of aerodynamic parts like the front wing, rear wing, and floor The car must fit inside a specific “regulation box” (maximum width, height, and length). Moving aerodynamic parts are banned — except for the DRS (Drag Reduction System), which can open the rear wing flap to reduce drag and increase speed on straights. Ground effect (airflow under the car) is limited to prevent dangerous levels of downforce. Weight and dimension’s state, the minimum weight of a 2025 F1 car (including the driver) is 798 kilograms. Cars must not exceed

2000 mm in width and 970 mm in height. The FIA checks cars after races to make sure no team removes weight illegally. Tires, all cars must use Pirelli tires, the official supplier. There are three dry tire compounds (soft, medium, hard) and two wet compounds (intermediate and full wet). At least must use at least two different dry compounds during a dry race. The FIA monitors tire pressures, temperatures, and usage electronically. Safety rules, Cars must pass crash tests before being allowed to race. Every car has a halo (a titanium cockpit protection bar) to protect the driver’s head. Cars are fitted with fire extinguishers, seatbelt harnesses, headrests, and survival cells (carbon fiber monocoques designed to stay intact in a crash). Fuel tanks must be made of puncture-resistant material and located safely behind the driver. Electronics and Data, Teams must use an FIA-standard ECU (Electronic Control Unit). Real-time telemetry (data from the car to the team and FIA) is used to monitor performance and compliance. Traction control, launch control, and automatic gear shifts are banned — the driver must control the car manually. And lastly, Budget and Development Limits, Teams must follow a budget cap (around $135 million per season) to keep competition fair. There are also limits on wind tunnel time and computer simulations (aerodynamic testing) based on each team’s performance Now the next set of rules will be the actual race rules! Each sport obviously has a specific set of rules to regulate their game, like how a ball hits outside the foul line is a foul ball, formula 1 has rules just like that! Drivers must stay within track limits (at least one wheel on the white line). Defensive driving is allowed, but sudden moves to block another driver are banned. A driver must leave at least one car’s width if another car is alongside. Blue flags mean a driver must let faster cars (lapping them) pass safely. Yellow flags mean caution — no overtaking allowed. Red flags mean the race is stopped immediately. In the pitstop, Cars must enter and exit the pit lane at limited speed (usually 80 km/h). Tire changes and repairs can only happen in the team’s pit box. Unsafe releases (releasing a car into another’s path) are penalized. During a Safety Car, drivers must hold positions and follow the car’s safety pace. During a Virtual Safety Car (VSC), drivers must slow down and maintain a specific delta time — no overtaking allowed. Okay, now that we know the rules, if formula 1 is something you like, go and watch it! But these rules weren’t just set for no reason, sport used to be dangerous. Too many fatal accidents. But the sport has changed, once a mini test amongst the fastest of cars, now to the most popular motorsport, in the entire world! Drivers like Micheal Schumacher, Niki Lauda, Fernando Alonso, and of course Lewis Hamilton. But the up in coming Max Verstappen of Red Bull racing could join that GOAT rank soon. After interviewing my girlfriend, friends, and parents, it seems the most popular teams as of right now are Mercedes AMG, Ferrari, Mclaren, and the most popular Red bull racing. Personally, I like Ferrari because Lewis Hamilton is my favorite! But all in all, Formula 1 is the fastest sport in the world! What’s your favorite team?
