The Frankfort area will be enjoying a brand new Chick-fil-a restaurant sometime next year. The Chick-fil-a will replace the old Steak n’ Shake at 20091 S. Lagrange Road.
The Frankfort Village Board approved the construction and opening of the restaurant in July of this year. The Board approved the major change to the Hickory Creek Market Place shopping center. The shopping center has been approved for redevelopment, and it seems the Chick-fil-a is one of many new changes to the area. The Frankfort Board approved the demolition of the former Steak n’ Shake so that the new building can be constructed to accommodate the Chick-fil-a. The building itself has been approved for a total of 4,886 square feet of construction.
The construction of the Chick-fil-a required the approval of four separate “special use permits”, all of which were approved by the Frankfort Village Board. These special use permits include approvals for the construction of a carry-out restaurant, drive-up service windows, outdoor seating, and extended hours of operation, according to Board documents. Construction began in early September of this year, and continues on despite the cold weather.
While no official opening date has been released, Frankfort residents have been speculating about possible grand opening dates. The most likely opening date is February of 2025. This date has been mentioned several times online, though neither the franchise nor the Frankfort Village Board has confirmed it.
Frankfort is not the only town in Will County to get approval for the construction and opening of a new Chick-fil-a. Joliet will also be enjoying its second Chick-fil-a sometime next year. The construction of the Joliet Chick-fil-a will not begin until 2025 however.
