Holiday Activities

Jamie Beja, Staff Reporter

The holiday season is soon approaching and there are so many things to do. Downtown Chicago is one place that offers many things to do and see. In Millennium Park, you can look for the giant holiday tree on Michigan Avenue. Near there, you can go ice skating on the ice rink at Maggie Daley Park. Another classic place to go is the Walnut Room at Macy’s on State Street. While there, it is a great place to eat lunch or dinner, but make a reservation because it gets very crowded at this time of the year. If you’re into shopping, take a look at the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza on Washington Street. If you feel like walking some more, you can walk a couple blocks and look at the decorative windows on State Street. Another option is to take in a holiday classic to see The Nutcracker ballet or A Christmas Carol. The Chicago Symphony has special holiday music concerts too. The Museum of Science and Industry has Christmas Around the World to look at differently decorated trees from other countries. There are even things you can do locally. You can take a drive, and look at the decorated houses around nearby neighborhoods. Those are just a few things to do around this time of year, but there is so much more to do to get in the holiday spirit!
